Our Story
The inspiration behind the name
Mikel’s journey in beauty began in London, UK, in the early 90s, where his passion for fashion, artistry & creativity naturally led him into nail technology, makeup & eventually hair cutting. His love of learning & dedication to craft this have taken him through decades of experience, training & innovation.
In 2004, Mikel relocated to Ontario & spent years working in some of Ottawa’s most respected salons & spas, refining his skills with advanced education from world renowned brands & educators including Toni & Guy, Sassoon, L’Oréal, Aveda, & DevaCurl to name but a few. He has also served as a professional product educator, sharing his knowledge with other stylists across Ontario.
Now based in Dieppe, New Brunswick, Mikel has built MDM Curl Studio Inc. as a space devoted to curly, wavy & coily hair. Every appointment is a collaboration focused on your unique curl pattern, texture, & lifestyle. Through thoughtful consultation & his signature MDM Technique™, Mikel creates personalized, curl-by-curl cuts & treatments that celebrate your natural beauty.
In 2025, Mikel was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Cosmetology Association of New-Brunswick (CANB).
