Our Story
The inspiration behind the name
Mikel’s journey in beauty began in London, UK, in the early 90s, where his passion for fashion, artistry, and creativity naturally led him into nail technology, makeup, and eventually hair cutting. His love of learning and dedication to craft have taken him through decades of experience, training, and innovation.
In 2004, Mikel relocated to Ontario and spent years working in some of Ottawa’s most respected salons and spas, refining his skills with advanced education from world-renowned brands and educators including Toni & Guy, Sassoon, L’Oréal, Aveda, and DevaCurl. He has also served as a professional product educator, sharing his knowledge with other stylists across Ontario.
Now based in Dieppe, New Brunswick, Mikel has built MDM Curl Studio as a space devoted to curly, wavy, and coily hair. Every appointment is a collaboration—focused on your unique curl pattern, texture, and lifestyle. Through thoughtful consultation and his signature MDM Technique™, Mikel creates personalized, curl-by-curl cuts and treatments that celebrate your natural beauty.
